Grant and Report
Writer, temporary, part-time contract, 15 hours/week
Time period: Mid-December (December 15, 2008) to end March 31, 2009
Salary: CAD $21.00 per hour (before taxes)
Location: Ottawa
Currently, PBI-Canada is looking to hire a temporary, part-time contract position. This post will be responsible for conducting a full range of activities required to support PBI-Canada’s grant and report writing activities. Tasks would include, writing proposals and reports to a variety of donors, including foundations, faith groups, and government departments.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the National Director:
* Acquire a sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, and use that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all of PBI’s projects and programmes for which grants will be
sought and reported on.
* Compile information for writing and editing grant applications and reports, using strong expository writing skills.
* Research grant-making organizations and other organizational donor opportunities (such as faith groups, trade
unions, government departments, foundations) analyse opportunities to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programmes.
* As time available, assist in the writing of promotional materials and documents to support the work of PBI-Canada.
Qualifications:
* English Fluency, both written and spoken
* Excellent written communication skills, ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals and reports
* Excellent critical thinking skills
* Strong editing skills
* Attention to detail
* Knowledge of human rights discourse and previous experience with non-profit organizations
* Experience working in deadline-driven environments
* Able to work well in a team environment and to handle multiple assignments
* Past experience in proposal and report writing
* Fluency in French an asset
* Strong computer skills in MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to use the Internet effectively.
