Get Involved!PBI is made up of people from many different cultures, religions and countries working together with a common faith in the power of nonviolence. We are not restricted by association to any state, church, political party or any other group. The effectiveness of PBI is based on this independence and our ability to inform and mobilize international public awareness. In order to continue to operate in this way, and in order to expand our existing work to more countries, PBI needs your participation. Contribute
to PBI You can effectively support people working to establish
justice and peace nonviolently through your tax-receiptable donation.
Help us continue working for peace and international human rights! Join PBI's Grassroots Emergency Response Network (GRN)This international network is activated when a volunteer or the people we work with are apprehended, attacked or threatened. Hundreds of messages protesting the violence go to key government officials. In many cases, the GRN has saved people from torture and death. To become part of the GRN, please contact the PBI-Canada office. Join a PBI team Before becoming a field volunteer with one of our projects, prospective field volunteers are required to first complete a detailed application. Once the application process is completed, prospective volunteers are then invited to participate in one of our volunteer training sessions. While there are some general requirements for prospective volunteers [i.e., applicants must be a minimum of 25 years old], each of our projects - Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mexico, Nepal - do have specific requirements. If you are Canadian, and are interested in further details about field volunteer opportunities, please contact the PBI-Canada Office. If you are interested in information and are not Canadian, please contact PBI's International Office for details - or visit the PBI's international web site for a list of PBI offices in other countries. click here for information on Upcoming Trainings Read comments from past Canadian volunteers here.
Public
Events Fund
Raising and Grant Writing We
request funds from our members as well as from a number of foundations,
religious groups, unions, and other groups. We always need help and
contacts with possible sources of funds, and with writing grant proposals.
Participate in one of PBI's International Delegations During these two and three week visits, delegates meet with various groups, members of the diplomatic community and government officials. They are an important part of PBI's projects. Our most recent delegation was PBI's Delegation to Guatemala in Nov. 1999. |
